THE FEMALE BODY

June 9, 2010

I was asked today, a rather simple question – seemingly. “What do you think of the female body? Do you like it?”

As a woman myself, I was at first stunned. Silenced. My first response – then – was that I don’t particularly like it. I do enjoy forms and structure, but the female body as a whole? No, the answer was no. I do prefer natural shapes and beauty more. That was my reply.

But is this truly my opinion?

I started doubting it immediately, and I am left pondering upon it – for an honest question deserves an honest answer. My reasonings then, are thus far, as follows..

I like natural forms, structures and beauty – but is the female body just that? Is it as much natural beauty as a flower or a flowing river?

In our society of 2010 that is a valid question indeed. As the number of women spending their savings, suffers in pain and solitude – just so that  their physical look can be transformed into a certain category of beauty – an unnatural beauty. This disgusts me.

And the hords of men that only has the capacity to see the women as form – as only form, lacking any connection with mind and spirit. This disgusts me too.

What comes first, the stupidity of women or the ignorance of men, is less of interest – to me. What do bother me – in fact – is that this whole carneval of human carnal desires has managed to creep under my skin and affected my own reasoning.

The question was: ” What do you think of the female body?” And my reply is, this time: “It is as all natural wonders, beautiful in its origin, in its essence. The form and proportions are mathematically accurate and serves its function to be a mother quite well. Yes, I do like the female body. And if I may add.. I sincerely hope that more women would embrace their own bodies and own beauty – on the inside and outside. By doing this women can release the natural power that lies within. They won’t have to be ashamed of their body any more. They won’t have to hide their sense of ugliness or sense of beauty. By embracing the essence – their essence – by embracing this, which is life, they will regain themselves. Pure and sincere – this is what we should expect from all women, as true ambassadors of mother nature.”
